Feed Machine

A social feed designed to give your attention back — the HCI project that treats scrolling itself as the problem.

Human-Computer Interaction at Politecnico di Torino asks you to design against a real harm. We chose the one in everyone's pocket: feeds engineered to keep you scrolling. Feed Machine is a social-platform prototype that treats your attention as the resource to protect.

The design process, in full

  • User research and needfinding first — what people actually regret about their feed time
  • Paper prototypes, tested and thrown away; heuristic evaluation; usability testing on the working build

What it does

  • Time-usage dashboards that make your session visible while it happens
  • Interest-based filtering, so the feed serves declared interests rather than engagement bait
  • Friction where it helps — tools that interrupt compulsive scrolling instead of feeding it

Built with React on the front and Python behind it.
